Afghanistan’s rural regions are dominated by radio. Seventy-three per cent of the Afghan population use radio to find out about current events. Nearly sixty per cent of the population, especially in urban areas, use television as a source of information. Only one per cent (300,000) of the approximately 37 million inhabitants reads a newspaper. Social media is used by around nine million people, especially the young population.
